I hadn’t had any horses for a few years and I was missing my equine partners. The porperty is the perfect spot for riding and enjoying them. In fact, just down the road is a huge tract of government Crown Land with miles of trails just waiting to be enjoyed.

The hunt was on………. I spent countless hours researching and looking for that perfect horse. I came across an ad for Mr. Jones on Northernhorse.com and liked what they had to say about him. I began emailing with the folks at Katawasin Performance Horses and explained that I was looking for a horse, but couldn’t do anything about it until late spring. We kept in touch and I kept looking at Mr. Jones on their website. I was pretty much convinced that he was the one for me.

Finally in April, I had a chance to drive out to Duck Lake, SK to meet Mr. Jones. Tracey and Jay also had 2 other geldings that were offered for sale and I was interested in looking at them as a second horse. Jay rode all three horses and I knew right then and there that not only was Jones coming home with me, but his brother Jojo was coming too.

Mr. Jones is everything I look for in a horse and his colour is an added bonus. He’s stunning to look at and built tough like a ranch horse should be. Jones has strength, speed and the attitude to get the job done! He is outgoing, gregarious and often mischievous. Nothing fizzes him. Despite his size and power he is gentle as a lamb. I usually ride him in a bosal, which is testament to his kind nature. He loves people and enjoys just hanging out with us.

Jojo is the true movie star of the equine herd. He’s beautiful to look at and always seem to pose for the camera, but he’s just as tough and capable as his big brother. Jo is much more subtle when interacting with people, but when given the opportunity he’s just as personable. He’s a pleasure to ride and tries so hard to please.

So I enjoyed "The Boyz" (as they are affectionately called) that summer and I came to appreciate their sire even more. When visiting at Katawasin Performance Horses  I had a chance to look at several of Clayboy’s babies and see many of the mares that he’s breeding to. All of Clayboy’s get are built for performance and have the minds to match. I can’t say enough good things about him.

In September of 2006 I was browsing through the Katawasin web site and noticed that Jewell was offered for sale. She is one pretty girl and built like a tank. Her pedigree is to die for and she was in foal to Clayboy. Uh oh!!! I knew I was in trouble! I thought is over and couldn't resist.  So in mid October I met up with Jay in Lloydminster and I brought Jewell home.

Jewell has settled well with her old buddies Jones and Jojo and is expecting her first foal at the end of March 2007. She is sweet and gentle and suits me just perfectly.
